Old-Fashioned Sour Cream Drop Cookies - Marian Danielson Pearson

½ cup soft shortening or oleo
1 ½ cups sugar
2 eggs

Mix thoroughly and add:

1 cup sour cream (or milk)
1 tsp. vanilla

Then beat in:

½ tsp. soda
½ tsp. salt
½ tsp. baking powder
2 ¾ cups flour

Chill 1 hour. Drop rounded teaspoonfuls about 2” apart on ungreased cooky sheet. Bake at 350 degrees until delicately browned, just until when touched lightly with finger no imprint remains. Frost with powdered sugar frosting.

CHOCOLATE VARIATION—Add 6 T cocoa with sugar mixture.
RAISIN CREAM VARIATION—Fold in 1 cup raisins.
COCONUT CREAM VARIATION—Fold in 1 cup moist shredded coconut.
