Hot Fudge Pudding - Marian Danielson Pearson

Sift together into bowl:

1 cup flour
2 tsp. baking powder
¼ tsp. salt
¾ cup sugar
2 T cocoa

Stir in:

½ cup milk
2 T shortening, melted

Blend in 1 cup chopped nuts (optional).

Spread in 8 x 11 baking pan. Sprinkle with mixture of ½ cup brown sugar and 2 T cocoa.
Pour 1 ¾ cups hot water over entire batter. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. During baking, cake mixture rises to the top and chocolate sauce settles to the bottom. Invert square of pudding on dessert plates. Dip sauce from pan over each. Serve warm.
