Fruit Cocktail Cake - Marian Danielson Pearson

Recipe originally from Larene Bell

1 cup flour
1 cup sugar
1 tsp. soda
1 egg, beaten
1 medium can well-drained fruit cocktail

Mix thoroughly. Put in 8 x 8 pan and sprinkle with scant cup brown sugar and nuts. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. For large pan, double the recipe, decreasing brown sugar to ¾ cup and adding an extra tablespoon of flour. Bake 10 to 15 minutes longer.
