Banana Cream Pie - Naomi Mallory Carlson

1/3 cup cornstarch
2/3 cups sugar
¼ tsp. salt
3 cups milk
3 egg yolks, slightly beaten
2 T butter
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 or 3 bananas

Mix cornstarch, sugar and salt in top of double boiler. Gradually add milk. Cook and stir over boiling water until thick. Slowly add a small amount of hot mixture to egg yolks. Mix well and return to double boiler. Cook 5 minutes. Add butter and vanilla. Cool. Slice bananas into baked pie shell. Add cream filling and top with whipped cream.
